Transylvania with a Romanian - the only way If you want to see the "real" Romania, Mihai is absolutely the best guide to go with. His extensive knowledge of history and culture, as well as his recounting of his own personal experiences gave us a perspective that we would never have had on our own or in a large group. As well, he was able to customize our trip and created ther 4-day tour after understanding what our interests were in Transylvania (more historical and cultural - less Dracula). And then he added experiences we hadn't considered e.g. meals with locals, staying in a Saxon village, visiting a Romani family, etc. The trip was well-executed, and he was flexible and creative when a planned stop didn't work out. We cannot recommend him highly enough.

Great Private tour in Maramureş in northern Transylvania We were a party of two (mother & daughter) who had a wonderful 3 day tour with Mihai in September 2025. Mihai picked us up at our hotel in Cluj and we drove to Breb in Maramureş in northern Transylvania. We saw beautiful villages, Saxon churches, and even the Sighet Memorial Museum created out of the remnants of the former Sighet Prison. Mihai brought us to see everything from local artisans weaving and felting to the Cimitirul Vesel church with the wild wooden handcrafted grave markers with poems and carvings of many local folks. Mihai was happy to explain Romanian history and culture to us, his English is excellent and he is a great ambassador for Transylvania and the Saxon villages. Mihai booked our stay in Breb at a wonderful guest house with lovely hosts and excellent food, he took care of all the details so we could just enjoy the sights.Mihai was happy to customize everything, we can't recommend him enough.

Beautiful road trip from Bucharest to Brasov via Transfagarasan We did a one-day road trip from Bucharest to Brașov via the Transfăgărășan road, and it honestly couldn’t have been better—all thanks to our guide, Bogdan. From the start, he was courteous, welcoming, and made us feel completely safe and comfortable. Along the way, he shared fascinating insights about Romania’s landscapes and history, keeping us engaged throughout the long drive. He patiently answered all our questions and even went out of his way to help us find delicious local vegetarian dishes, which we truly appreciated as visitors unfamiliar with the culture and language. We can’t recommend Bogdan enough if you’re looking to experience the beauty of Romania with the perfect guide.

Excellent experience, can recommend I travelled together with my Dad, 3 days from Bucharest through Transylvania.Andreea, our tourguide was exceptional. We were specifically interested in medieval saxon churches and Andreea organised a tour around this topic. Besides that, she also took us to meet a Gipsy master craftsman and had incredible knowledge around Gipsy, medieval, communist and contemporary history. It was a privilege to travel with such a professional. Every reservation worked, all places where we stopped were arranged after our individual wishes, our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable.

Great Tour, Great Guide Found this private tour for our first family vacation in Romania. It was a fantastic tour that made our vacation memorable. And it has everything to do with Mihai, who is no doubt the best tour guide I have ever met. Mihai is very experienced and loves his job. We learned quite a bit about Romania's geography and history during this tour. And Mihai is a very considerate gentleman that pays attention to details from car selection and hotel selection to itinerary adjustment. He managed time quite well that we never felt rushed yet he kept us on schedule so that we could arrive at hotel in time to recuperate from jet lag. Even brought us to a couple places that were not in the plan after learning about our taste and wish. If you want to come to Romania, you have to visit Transylvania. If you want a private tour, I highly recommend this tour.

Excellent guide! I connected with Mihai in January 2025 and he helped me plan the whole itinerary. He even got us good rates for the hotels. There were 8 of us and he booked a comfortable 16 seater Mercedes with driver, Vila who was also courteous, careful and safe. Our 4 day trip started in August and from the time we were picked up at the airport to the end when we were dropped off at the port in Guigui was a very pleasant, smooth, and enjoyable one. Mihai was simply a very obliging, knowledgeable guide and knew the country like the back of his hand. He showed us all the beautiful sights and towns of Romania – never thought it is so rich in history and culture. I cannot thank Mihai enough for making our trip interesting and memorable. He even updated me on the weather few days before. He took extra care in making sure that we were all happy, even introduced local snacks and cuisine to us and ensured our luggages were taken to our rooms. All of us have enjoyed ourselves and we even had the opportunity see the bears on the road side! I have no hesitation in recommending him to anyone who wants to travel around Romania.

Skip the crowds and book Romania with Mihai! I don't know how to describe how fantastic our trip with Mihai was. I was bringing my two young children (7 and 10) and three grandparents (all over 70), so we had a wide range of mobility and endurance capabilities, and Mihai knew exactly where to take us for sightseeing and booked great accommodations for us at each stop. He was so patient with my kids, even as they both got motion sick and had to sit up front with him. And he is so knowledgeable, not just about the rich history of Romania, but of modern socio-political and environmental issues I inquired about.Mihai made a special side trip for us to my dad's grandfather's birthplace, and went knocking on doors to try to find our long-lost family still remaining there. We didn't end up meeting them, but the effort was above and beyond and it still made for such a fun memory with my dad. Romania is absolutely beautiful, the castles and cathedrals in the towns throughout our tour rival anything you'll see in more crowded tourist spots around Europe. The people we encountered were warm and helpful. Our family has been fortunate enough to travel to some great spots throughout the world, and our Transylvania tour is at the top of the list of my favorites. I hope to return soon and would not hesitate to book with Mihai again.
